Digital Drawing
2021 Fall | 4.000 Credit hours
This course promotes an approach to drawing using digital formats that push the concept of the computer beyond its status as the "tool". We approach the computer as a creative partner seeking answers to the questions most appropriate for its use in drawing. Newly developed techniques and vocabularies will be explored, including the laser cutter, XY plotter robot, SketchUp (3D modeling computer program), Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, design aesthetics, and inkjet prints. Traditional drawing tools are used alongside experimental approaches.
As the teaching assistant for this course, I instructed students to use Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and SketchUp to prepare images. Another part of my job was to assist students in using the laser cutter, XY plotter robot, and printers. I also prepared paper, pens, tools for students to explore what they wanted.
